One most important duty of the steward is to welcome all camping & caravanning club members to the meet and help them make the most of
their stay.
It is a great way of getting to know your fellow members.
A steward does not have to be a member of the committee, or indeed of Northants DA, all volunteers are welcome. Why not put
your name forward to steward a meet, the duties are not too onerous and help is always at hand for anyone unsure of what is
expected.
A summary of the other duties of the steward are listed below.
The Steward is responsible for all matters appertaining to the meet and his/her decision is final - subject to the right to appeal to the Committee.
The Steward is responsible for recording details of all members attending the meet and of all monies received and paid. Meets are restricted to Club Members, whose membership cards must be produced if properly requested.
With the assistance of all other Members at the Meet, the Steward will ensure that the Codes of the Club are upheld and the site is left at least as clean and tidy as before.
Direction signs should be placed as early as possible prior to a meet.
With the agreement of the landowner, and avoiding contamination of water courses, the Steward will arrange for a pit to be dug for the disposal of the contents of Chemical Toilets, and
for the subsequent infilling and the replacement of turf, unless permanent sewage disposal is available.
Camp Stewards are recommended to read the Codes contained in the Club Handbook which is issued free to all members.
Stewards unable to attend the meet should immediately notify the Sites Officer or DA Secretary, and, when possible, nominate a substitute.
